Deutschland-Pavillion EXPO 2000
On the 31st October 2000 the EXPO 2000 in Hannover closed its gates after 153 days. 18.1 million people visited the first world exhibition in Germany which took place under the theme "Mankind - Nature - Technology".
Without doubt one of the highlights of the EXPO was the German Pavilion which lay on the southern edge of the Expo-plaza and which is still there to be seen today. Dimensionally it measured 130m long, 90m wide and 15m tall. A rolling wooden roof arched above the self-supporting glass facade that rested on glass-metal supports. Enclosing the Pavilion a shin high moat was constructed which partially due to the high temperatures was used by young and old as a pleasant place to cool the feet.
The whole of the 800m² moat was waterproofed with AQUAFIN-2K - the flexible mineral-based waterproof coating from SCHOMBURG. A reliable, economical and secure waterproof solution was provided together with the waterproof tapes ASO-Dichtband-2000-S and ASO-Dichtband-2000-Ecken.
Today the Pavilion is used for events and as a meeting room. Even IT and media companies have settled for the innovative and timeless architecture. And the water around the Pavilion is still flowing.
