Durable waterproofing and damage free tiling to balconies and terraces - ADF-Balkonfolie / ADF-Systemkleber-FB
The core of this system, that has been successfully installed for almost 10 years, is the ADF-Balkonfolie. It concerns a 2mm thick waterproofing membrane that is easily and securely applied using the hydrophobic thin-bed adhesive ADF-Systemkleber. Bonded waterproofing is achieved via the bond with the fleece backed membrane that furthermore has a de-coupling effect. When laying, the individual sections are butt-jointed and overcoated with the waterproof tape supplied. Wall and floor junctions, pipe penetrations and floor inlets are waterproofed with the established ASO-Dichtband-2000 and the ASO-Dichtmanschetten. Subsequent tiling is also carried out with ADF-Systemkleber.
New for this year is the hydrophobic flow-bed mortar ADF-Systemkleber-FB. This adhesive, which conforms to DIN EN 12004 C1 FE, was specially developed for the requirements of the ADF-Balkonfolie in exterior locations.
ADF-Systemkleber-FB is a flexible, rapid setting, flow-bed mortar for laying earthenware and vitrified tiles, ceramic with low water absorption <0.5% (fully vitrified), split tiles, mosaics and natural stone not sensitive to discolouration.
Void free bedding is particularly important in exterior areas. Water penetrating the joints collects in the voids and leads to visible damage over the winter months. Therefore thin-bed adhesives should always be applied by by the buttering-floating method. Considerably more efficient is the use of flow-bed mortars such as ADF-Systemkleber-FB. As a result of the special properties the mortar ribs, after combing the adhesive, flow together after the tile is pushed into place. The product has been designed to be hydrophobic and therefore water repellent. The adhesive absorbs almost no water, an additional protective measure that can be utilised so balconies and terraces can be used for many years without damage.
ADF-Systemkleber-FB is available in 25kg bags and ADF-Balkonfolie is available in rolls (7.5m² and 15m²) at good stockists.
