2011-10-12 Opening of the new SCHOMBURG factory in Italy
At the end of September SCHOMBURG celebrated the opening of its new factory in Italy. The new building in Castelnuovo Rangone, near Maranello was christened for over 200 invited guests from home and abroad.
Together with our Italian joint venture partner, BENFER, we will produce tile adhesives and waterproofing products in the future for the Italian and French markets. Also a part of the North African business will be handled at this location. After 13 months of construction, there now exists a functioning building with the most modern of production technologies.
In his opening speech, the SCHOMBURG group's advisory president Albert Schomburg praised the good work jointly achieved with the Italian partner. Business Management Dr, Jens Hofele and Giorgio Cocchi reserved the right to cut the red tape signifying "entering into a new partnership". Dr. Hofele reported proudly on the entire new-build project. In total 7.5 million Euros were invested. Due to strict Italian constraints, the entire building needed to be built to withstand earthquakes. The building has over 2, 500 m² of storage and production space. The production capacity is thus increased to 50 - 80 thousand tonnes of dry powder. These new premises increase the year-round delivery possibilities. "We can now deliver frost sensitive products from Italy to international markets during the winter months" said Dr. Hofele.
