Reliable, long lasting tried and tested bonded waterproof membrane beneath tiles and tile installation system
The hydrotherapy centre for the mentally and physically handicapped at the institute for communitarian rehabilitation "Gaudeamus" in Bratislava, Slovakia was extended with a new swimming pool in 2010. The construction of a 25 m rehabilitation pool within the new building was made possible mainly through Norwegian and the EEA finance mechanism as well as with the Slovakian state budget.
The flexible mineral-based waterproofing slurry AQUAFIN-2Kwas used to waterproof the pool tank, the pool surround and the wash rooms and showers. The swimming pool hall was tiled with the highly flexible thin-bed adhesive UNIFIX-2K/6. ASO-Flexfuge was chosen as the grout for the tiled finish.
The management at the "Gaudeamus" institute decided on our system construction products, the choice being based on very positive, long lasting customer experience with the named SCHOMBURG products. It was exactly these products that were used back in 1996 during the construction of the first (smaller) rehabilitation pool at the centre for hydrotherapy and have proven over the following 14 years to be a reliable and maintenance free solution.
