To not only conserve historically protected buildings as museums but to allow contemporary use without detriment optically or to the structural mechanics, is today a particular challenge for construction companies and construction materials. The restoration of the room in the gatehouse of the Michaelstein cloisters in Blankenburg in South West Saxony-Anhalt shows, as an example, how building sections can be converted to modern yet representative rooms.
